Cutting Board Designer, by The Kingsbury Workshop — last updated 2026-10-01
Cutting Board Designer is a woodworking design tool. This page describes what information the app and website actually collect, why, and how you can remove it. It describes real, current behavior — not a general template.
You do not need an account to design a board, generate a cut list, estimate cost, use Workshop Mode, or send feedback. Unless you sign in and save to your account, your designs and lumber records stay on your device. Feedback you choose to send is stored in our cloud database.
| Data | When | Where it's stored |
|---|---|---|
| Email address and password (or a magic-link email) | Only if you create an account | Supabase Auth (our cloud database provider) |
| Your saved board designs | Only if you choose "save to my account" | Supabase (cloud) — otherwise stays only on your device |
| Your lumber inventory (species, dimensions, cost, storage location, notes) | Only if you use My Lumber with an account | Supabase (cloud) — otherwise stays only on your device |
| Photos you attach to a lumber item | Optional, per item | Your device only (local storage), not currently uploaded to the cloud — see "Inventory photos" below |
| Feedback text (bug reports, feature requests, general notes) | Only when you submit feedback | Supabase (cloud) |
| A screenshot you optionally attach to feedback | Optional, per submission | Supabase Storage (cloud), in a private location — see "Feedback screenshots" below |
| Contact email on a feedback submission | Optional — prefilled from your account if signed in, always editable/removable | Supabase (cloud) |
| Basic device/app diagnostics (app version, platform, screen size, connection status, and a few recent app errors for bug reports) | Only if you leave "Include diagnostic information" checked when sending feedback — always shown to you before sending, always removable | Supabase (cloud) |
Without an account, or in addition to an account, the app stores your current design, saved design gallery, and lumber inventory in your browser's local storage and IndexedDB (Android and iOS use the equivalent on-device storage inside the installed app). This data stays on your device and is never sent anywhere unless you explicitly choose to save it to your account.
Photos you attach to a lumber item are stored only on the device you took or chose them on. If you're signed in, the fact that a photo exists syncs to your account, but the photo's actual image data does not currently sync across devices — opening the same item on a second device will not show the photo yet. We don't upload inventory photos to any third party.
An optional screenshot you attach to a feedback submission is uploaded to a private cloud storage location. It is not publicly accessible, not linked from any public page, and not visible to other users of the app — including other signed-in users. It's used only for reviewing your report.
On Android (and, when available, iOS), the app requests camera access only at the moment you choose to take a photo — for a lumber item or a feedback screenshot. We never access your camera or photo library in the background or without your explicit action.
If you have an account, you can permanently delete it and its associated cloud data (saved projects, lumber inventory, profile) from inside the app: open the account menu → the ⚙ account-settings icon → Delete Account. You can also reach this directly at /?account=delete after signing in. Designs and inventory saved only on your device are not affected by account deletion — you keep local access to them. Feedback you've previously submitted is kept for support purposes but is no longer linked to your account once it's deleted.
Cloud data (accounts, projects, inventory, feedback, feedback screenshots) is stored and processed by Supabase, our database/backend provider. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with any other third party. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs of any kind.
The app has an internal, first-party event log (e.g. "feedback opened," "project saved") used only to understand feature usage within our own development process. It does not currently send data to any external analytics service, does not use cookies for tracking, and does not build advertising profiles.
Cloud data is protected by database-level access rules (Row Level Security) that restrict every account's data to that account alone. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security of any data you provide — but we've built this app so that the amount of personal data it ever asks for is intentionally minimal.
Account data is retained until you delete your account (see above) or contact us to request deletion. Anonymous feedback (submitted without signing in, or after an account is deleted) is retained for product-support purposes.
This app is a woodworking design tool intended for general audiences and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Questions about this policy or your data: use the in-app Send Feedback (General Feedback) option, or see our Support page.
